Jérôme Dreyfuss founded his eponymous brand in 2002 with the launch of his debut accessories collection Roots de Luxe that was an instant hit with Parisian women.

Roots de Luxe was born out of a desire to create simple yet elegant pieces from the finest leather and top-grade materials. Luxury is now more authentic, carefree and accessible, less contrived and austere. In fact, true luxury is all about being free to express your own personal style.

Jérôme Dreyfuss, leather specialist and “wild child” of the fashion world.

Jérôme Dreyfuss was born in Nancy (France) in1974 and fashion has always been his calling. The budding designer began making clothes for his schoolmates from the age of 11 using what little resources he had at the time.

Jérôme moved to Paris when he was 17 to study fashion but left after only three months as he couldn’t quite understand “why you would have to study fashion as if you were studying for a law degree”. He then got the opportunity to work for John Galliano as his assistant where for two years he honed his craft before leaving to join the team in a model agency.

“No hooks, no stitching, only adhesive tape! I couldn’t sew, so yes I used adhesive tape.”

Jérôme launched his debut womenswear collection, Couture à Porter® in 1998 when he was 23 years old. With this unapologetic and intuitive collection, he quickly rose to prominence as one of Paris’ leading designers prompting the media to dub him the “wild child of French fashion”. Alongside this recognition, his corset made from adhesive tape was admitted into the Musée des Arts décoratifs (Museum of decorative arts and design) where it now hangs and he also won the Andam fashion award that same year. In 1999, Michael Jackson came across his work by chance and asked him to design the costumes for his latest album.

“I started making a bag; I took a skin and cut it like a dress, which is why the bag is so soft and slouchy.”

Women first !

From his earliest works, Jérôme Dreyfuss has focused on women and designing for their bodies. His ultra-lightweight, soft and flexible bags are designed to harmoniously align with a woman’s body and her movements, so she is free and unrestricted. The bag is almost forgotten, almost invisible.

Jérôme Dreyfuss draws his inspiration from women, their surroundings, their life changes and the pivotal issues that affect their lives. He is attuned to their needs, their pace, taking stock of attitudinal and societal shifts. The designer/anthropologist creates carry-all bags that are lightweight, comfortable and practical.

Jérôme Dreyfuss bags perfectly match the lifestyle of the modern, urban globetrotter. Each bag is given a male name Billy, Bobi, Lulu, Yves, because it is an ideal partner and companion.
